Many herbs and spices were used in ancient times, but few were of as great importance as rosemary. At first it was less about the pleasant smell (reminiscent of pine, spruce and incense) or the delicious spicy-bitter taste, but more about the healing power and cultural and religious significance. Nowadays, rosemary is mainly known as the main ingredient in the “Herbes de Provence” or in combination with meat dishes and vegetables. Rosemary is still particularly popular in the Mediterranean region, which is the origin of the herb.
